Website Wednesday: ForYourMarriage.org

Introducing Website Wednesdays, a chance for you to learn about faith-centered or family-centered websites that will be helpful for you and your family.  This won't be the update every Wednesday, but I liked the alliteration.

Today's website is a marriage website that was piloted by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops a few years ago and is kept up to date; it's called "For Your Marriage."

*****

For All Couples...
For Your Marriage is written for people who are in marriage or on their way to marriage.  There's an entire section for the dating and engaged, a section for parenting and family life, and one "for every marriage."  The ever popular Internet quiz makes an appearance on the website, allowing couples to take the quiz side by side before comparing answers and talking about them.  This is a fantastic way to grow closer together and provides topics for discussion even in moments where you feel like you have nothing to talk about but the weather and the children.

...Especially Those Who Need Help
If you or someone you know is in need of marriage advise or are in a tough patch, there are resources available on the Marriage Resource Center.

Daily Reflective Moments
Marriages need attention for the relationship to thrive.  ForYourMarriage has daily updates that will help your marriage flourish.  These short suggestions are practical and usually pretty easy to try out.  For example, below are a few recent updates:
Want to pray more, but not sure how? Try taping a list of people you want to pray for (or a morning offering) to the bathroom mirror where you’ll see it every day. Make sure your spouse is #1. (September 12)
Temper Taming Tip #3: A child’s disobedience can trigger rage from a parent. Try pre-empting your anger with a plan. Inform your child (ideally after discussion) of what consequence will follow disobedience. Then, don’t yell, just calmly enforce the plan.  (August 27)
If you're a Twitter user, follow @foryourmarriage; if you use Facebook, fan For Your Marriage; or if you prefer you can sign up for email updates.
